About Selank

How Selank works

Selank is a synthetic heptapeptide: the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) extended with Pro-Gly-Pro. As with Semax, the tail is there to resist enzymatic cleavage.

Published work studies it as a neuropeptide, with reported effects on GABAergic and monoamine signalling and on cytokine expression — the immune side inherited from tuftsin, the neuro side from what the extended molecule does in the brain.

What the research shows

A 2022 paper in Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine studies Selank as a tuftsin analogue in a withdrawal model; a 2020 study looks at Selank and Semax together using functional connectomics.

Like Semax, Selank was developed in Russia, most of its literature is Russian-authored, and it is not approved in the EU or the US.
